And Now A Bit About Toy Guns

Many children are attracted to playing with toy guns and today there are so many different variations on the market you can choose from. Kids love to simulate their hero’s from movies and television from Indiana Jones to GI Joe. Kids love to play with toy guns with their friends and siblings. Here is a brief description of a few of the more popular toy guns on the market today.

Plastic toy guns are designed to look as similar to the real thing as possible. These guns can resemble revolvers, automatic handguns and even rifles. Plastic guns all have one common feature. They all come with a plastic orange cap on the end to signify they are not the real deal. Many of these plastic guns come in holsters and with bullets attached to the belt. They are typically called cowboy guns because they depict the style of guns used in the Wild West era. Plastic toy guns also fall into the category of BB guns, these guns do not have an orange cap on them because they do shot BB’s and can be very dangerous if your child has not been taught the safety rules involved. In many states now you can only purchase a BB gun with a permit, so make sure you know your states regulations before you promise one to you child.

One of the coolest products on the market is Nerf guns. They are designed to shoot a sponge like projectile, sometimes with a rubber suction cup on the end so the bullet sticks to the surface it hits. These Nerf guns are getting more and more advanced as younger adults have begun to appreciate these toys. They now have the capability to hold multiple rounds of ammunition and can fire at some rapid speeds too. Some of the new Nerf guns fire balls, some fire long projectiles, and even some others fire discs. There are games around the county that are played similar to paintball, where teams of players attack each other on designated playing fields.

One of the earliest and simple examples is the water pistol. These are simple are filled with water, then the water compartment is closed, and the gun fires water out of the barrel in a similar fashion the traditional gun does. These guns are perfect for playing in the pool, or for just cooling off during those hot summer days during their summer vacation.

Finally one of the oldest and coolest is the cap gun. These toys have been around since the 1860′s and today 150 years later they are still a popular choice for kids playing with guns. They were introduced after the Civil War after a steep decline in real guns, so they increased their revenues by producing toy ones. The cap gun usually is made of metal, however many are on the market now that are made of a hardened plastic. The caps typically come in circular rounds of eight caps. Each cap holds enough gun powder to create a loud bang and a puff of smoke. The rings of caps are usually red in color, and remain as popular today as they were a hundred years ago.
